If true then it won't make anybody happy!

I don't think 'fanboys', of anything, can ever be pleased. Imagine they
made a film of Gravity's Rainbow.

The one 'positive' I've seen written about the Watchmen film, is that
they have basically 'filmed the comic' i.e. they have replicated the
storyboard, but with live actors, special effects etc., and I have been
talking to people who are fans of Watchmen and who seem happy with that,
in principle anyway. But personally I'm not sure that's such a good
idea: it risks not working, obviously, but it also risks working but to
no useful end.

I have seen a review which compares Watchmen to the Same Mendes film of
'Revolutionary Road', which (sort of, basically) comes across as an
attempt to make a straight transfer from book to screen, and suffers
because of it. The reviewer said Mendes's film was "not so much directed
as curated" and it does come across a bit stiff.

I dunno, in some ways I think they would have been better off making a
film 'inspred by' Watchmen, or at least coming at it from an angle,
rather than straight on.

I'm hoping it's going to prove to be enjoyable on about the same level
as the recent Christian Bale/Heath Ledger 'Dark Knight' film, but don't
have any confidence that it will be.

Too obsessively adhering to the book at the expense of film making.
It does give the art director kudos.
