1/2 way thru the book I think I can say she did a great job

you guys notice Anita Brookner gave a glowing review on the back of
the hardcover?

not someone I would've thought would review such a book--she writres
novels about lonely bachelors or spinsters generally
(in fact, her forthcoming novel sounds like a page from my life all
those yrs ago)
in any case, I like her stuff
