To give as civil a response as I am able,  Chomsky is a leading figure  
of the radical left. The book we are currently discussing [in our lazy  
and digressive fashion] concerns itself, in large part, with the  
radical left in America. One of the major themes of Vineland is the co- 
option of the radical left movements of the 60's by innate,  
internalized fascism. The discussion you landed on is concerned with  
what might be perceived as Chomsky's tolerance of certain criminal   
forms of governance over others.
