I got a ways into the novel, but got distracted by a shiny object...

I think it's interesting that Faulkner was a screenwriter of it.  I
did rent the video but didn't watch it carefully...it blends in my
mind with this other movie that my wife watched both versions of like
a million times, with an ungrateful daughter and a hardworking
mom...with a race element as well..."Imitation of Life" - real tear
jerker, 3 hanky chick flick
