Pronunciation of Pynchon's surname

[John Bailey]

I've always been under the impression that it's accented on the second
syllable. Pretty sure that's how it's pronounced in the Journey into
the Mind of P doco too.

I've never said it that way though, or heard anyone do so in real
life. Sorry Mr Pynchon.
