I heard Slattery give a reading from his book at a Brooklyn bar (think there was some musical accompaniment -- I could be wrong, though. Slattery played with John Pinamonti afterwards). As a reading/performance art, it was great entertainment - had kind of a retro/beatnik sensibility. I got the impression, though, from leafing through the book, that it might make for a tedious read. Based on Paul's review, I'm willing to give it a try.
