No. Vineland is about lots of things. But I'd give the marijuana/DEA  
themes in Vineland greater weight than most. I'm going a bit by the  
anecdotal evidence,  but a lot of the best of Pynchon is in the stoner  
humor mode of Firesign Theater or "Underground" comix. And the  
leitmotive of this sort of underground economy is in all of his books,  
to a greater or lesser extent.
