CoL49 suggestions for overarching reads

these are all pretty psychotic...

a) deepening malaise - the whole book is just a record of deepening malaise
(I don't like this reading, it just occurs to me every so often, but I
get jostled out of it by...

b) contrarian reading of Oedipa finding herself confirmed in her
Republicanism by evidence of the threat to polite society posed by the
anarchists, deviants and lovelorn composing the Trystero
(which is relatively quickly contravened by...)

c) Oedipa conceptualized and then developed as ideal Pynchon reader,
somebody who despite whatever degree of malaise encumbering him or her
will not neglect to layer the lasagna, notice graffiti, and at least
attempt to exert a sense of humor; title as descriptive of this text
(The Crying), so that Lot 49 itself will be the longer books
(especially those to come)
