person at @ Broome and Spring Streets in NY City:

TW: "Can you tell us where SOHO is?"........

P: This is Soho...all around, Soho means area South of How Stun [Houston] street.

Slightly later, slightly elsewhere but close, a man asks person:

M: "Why is this area called the cast iron district?"

P: " 'cause most buildings are".  
And steps away from building he is leaning against to reveal sign:
Made by Cast Iron Foundry, Albany NY.....

Man is amazed.
