I guess you're right. But even if he had/knew, personally, I think
it's a good thing for the novel's dynamics that is doesn't include
a portrayal of female friendship (or any friendship, for that matter
- there are no real friends in COL49).

If there were one person Oedipa could be sure she wouldn't have to
feel paranoid about, one group where she could belong, the novel's
construction would sort of fall down.
