Agree about the year, but don't forget that first line: "One summer afternoon..."
Also, when Oedipa walks through Berkeley campus, we once again learn that "It was summer,
a weekday, and midafternoon; no time for any campus Oedipa knew of to be jumping, yet this
one was." Old Mr Thoth refers to the clouding of the dandelion wine "a few months ago", when
it was "spring." And Grace Bortz sez that her husband is pouring a patio, "a highly organized
joke that's been going on since about April." So I'd say June-July 1964.
