It's a good bet, of course, BUT
1) They like BIG NOVEL writers and statement makers...
2) They do like politically left, not Chekhovian-like apolitical.
Speaking of which, Chekhov, who died way too young---44---did live long enough
to get a Nobel....but he did not get one......Of course, neither did Tolstoy nor Ibsen.
