Mormons & FBI (WAS: IVIV page 149)

The "Famous Mormons in Protective Services" site lists only four of
them. It reminds me of this gag in the first _Airplane_ movie:

STEWARDESS: For light reading, we have this pamplet, "Famous Jewish
Sports Legends."

I grew up outside of, and for a time worked in, Washington DC. The
knowledge I received from People Who Would Have Known is that the FBI
has long-standing recruiting connections with Fordham Law and other
Catholic universities, and so tends to be a "Catholic agency." (See,
for an extreme example, Robert Hansen and his involvement with Opus
Dei.) By contrast, State and CIA are the "Momon agencies": Mormons
who do their missions overseas have valuable experience on their
resume from a very young age, and the LDS values of temperance and
family make getting a security clearance relatively easy.

There are, of course, exceptions to these "rules," but that was the
lay of the land pointed out to me by folks who had worked in govt for
some time. Not sure whether this is relevant to IV -- I don't think
TRP (or Doc, for that matter) can be expected to know this.
