the page starts with Doc laying this layered rap on the
desk sergeant, and of course desk sergeants have heard
it all (my favorite is William Frawley, the guy who later played Fred Mertz,
as the desk sergeant in Lady on a Train (1945) with Deanna Durbin.)
"So...who around here would handle resurrections, man?"
"Bunco Squad, usually."
"Does that mean LAPD officially believes that every return
from the dead is some kind of con?"
--- possible Spoiler ---
there's a scene later on where the young Larry
evinces a strong non-sectarian belief in
life after death. Awesome Blossom!
--
--- "Can't say it often enough -
change your hair, change your life."
- Sortilege
