Remember early when Doc remarks on how many have
"abused" the "All You Need is Love" motto?

>From a bio of Charles Schulz, yes, that Charles
"Peanuts' Schutz, David Michaelis reminds us of a cultural phrase
with this added opinion:

"By 1970, so many young people had misbehaved in their
experiments with the new sexual freedom that they needed
a slogan that made them accountable. [the 1970 movie Love Story]'s
"Love means never having to say you're sorry" got everyone
off the hook; no one had to take responsibility for the ugly
mess he or she had made at home or office. It also meant that
if you really loved someone, you would let them do anything...

Michaelis also sez that the Love Story line REPLACED as "THE catchphrase
to exchange between sincere, if bleeding, hearts", "Happiness is a
warm puppy", the title of Schultz' multi-million copy seller since
the early sixties [in america, at least] . Thru those revolutionary years.

Just quotin'......
