_Whiteout: The CIA, Drugs and the Press_ by Alexander Cockburn and  
former (?) P-lister Jeffrey St. Clair  is very good on this and the  
rest of the whole sordid story about the CIA and drugs, highly  
recommended along with McCoy's book on heroin.  McCoy's more recent  
book on torture is worth reading, too.
