Sorry, Mark, but police against anarchy isn't exactly Fascist/Totalitarian,
is it? I mean, was the anyone asking someone to say something that they
didn't believe in? This kind of downgrading of the word is not all that
different from the right-wingers who call Obama a Nazi, i.e. Nazis are bad,
so if you think someone is really bad, it makes sense to call them one.

When someone has committed a crime, and any number of "protesters" did (and
should have been prepared for the consequences), anyone who helps them evade
arrest when they are wanted is understandably committing a crime, also. If
someone gave refuge to a guy who had just trashed an abortion clinic, you'd
want there to be consequences, wouldn't you? This is NOT a complicated
matter involving free speech, it's simple aiding the evasion a lawful
arrest, and probably conspiracy to boot. And the guy will no doubt have an
excellent free speech attorney to defend him, and I wouldn't want it any
other way, even if it were a defense against the prosecution of a right-wing
nut case. And that's a state that is ruled by laws. Not
Fascism/Totalitarianism.

Pynchon makes fun of these kind of stances, and I believe rightly.

Hysterical states serve no cause well but that of the opposition.

A New York-based anarchist has been arrested by the FBI and charged with
hindering prosecution after he allegedly used the social networking site
Twitter to help protesters at the G20 summit in Pittsburgh evade the police.

This email is probably an obstruction of justice!
