this is great.  Striking me (always looking for tangents) was:
"Gene Clark, a newcomer to town, fresh from the Missouri folk circuit"
-just the notion that there was a Missouri folk circuit
was exciting.  Of course, he did feel like he had to move to LA...

also, I kept wondering when we'd get to the part about the tattooed feet.
(something in Gravity's Rainbow about tattooed toes, "I Ching feet"...)
