The Democratic Party was split by the Vietnam War into fragments that
may or may not recover. The US now has interest groups rather than
two identifiable and intact political parties. There were three
components to the political sixties: civil rights, Vietnam and the
breakdown of coherent political parties. Vietnam did not initially
have a starring role but after a while became the whole thing. Look
at the only instance of the word "Vietnam" in the Port Huron Statement:
" . . . all present national entities -- including the Vietnams, the
Koreans, the Chinas, and the Germanys -- should be members of the
United Nations as sovereign, no matter how desirable, states."
There never was more than one Vietnam yet the framers of that
statement repeat the official line. By 1968 the Democratic Party was
at war with itself as Vietnam became the whole thing. Some on this
list threw sand during the Vineland read with mischief as their sole
purpose. Alice and jbor come to mind.
Obama may not be moving quickly and surely enough to suit all--it
looks like business as usual. Draw your own conclusions. Detect,
detect and detect.

A message from Fox news:
"There are reminders to all Americans that they need to watch
what they say, watch what they do, and this is not a time for remarks
like that; there never is." --Ari Fleischer
