The ancient Greek term for butterfly was psyche, which was also the
word for soul. Lots of mythologies link butterflies and the soul
actually (including Japanese and Chinese)

The myth of Eros/Cupid and his wife Psyche is pretty sweet - as you'd
expect, she's a bit maltreated by love.
