I think that gary Webb hit such a nerve (I've read his reporting, its
top notch) that it forced the CIA to send its head to South Central
for I don't know what else to call it unprecedented public
conference/forum
that they did proved more than anything that some of the shit
uncovered got close to that "real mafia", etc.

who knows if its the CIA qua CIA anymore--all these independent
operations, rogues, contractors and subcontractors--Leon Panetta is
the head--the man's a PR stooge nothing more

and let us not forget the black budgets these folks have at their
disposal. yikes
