You will never learn to read literature if you won't take off your
political blinders.
Henry Adams described himself as a "conservative Christian anarchist.”
Still, scholars can't quite agree as to what exactly a conservative,
Christian anarchist is or was or what Adams meant by describing
himself with this phrase. Adams has been called a conservative, a
liberal, a reactionary, a democrat ....one Pynchon scholar has claimed
that Pynchon was raped bt Adams. Hyperbole sure, but a fairly accurate
assessment.
