First came the walk-the-line test. Then came the Breathalyzer. Now, the New York Times says a syringe is the latest tool to be employed by law enforcement officers in the war against drunk driving. Police officers in two states are participating in a pilot program that requires those who are suspected of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol to submit to a curbside blood test. The paper says if the program is successful, it could become a national standard.
