IVIV backstory on Doc and Sauncho meeting cute

Probably been mentioned before, possibly by me even, but there was an
obvious echo there of the scene in American Graffiti where the guy
(Dreyfuss?) tries to cover up the fact that he's buying liquor by
piling up all this other stuff.... and also of course to Woody Allen's
'Bananas'  - yeah, apt - where he buys Time and Newsweek etc. to cover
up the fact that he's also buying a copy of 'Orgasm'. Then he gets in
a taxi just vacated by someone smoking a joint and gets sent sideways
by the dope smoke.
