Okay, we are spectators of a piece of art. In a quick McLuhanish way,
a story was in the mouth and in the ears. Then with printing, the
story was in a book. With movies, the book was in the movie and the
story was within the book. With TV the movie is in the TV and so
on. Now why does it bring us pleasure to witness a quest for
transformation? Does it give us a kind of rebirth to oppose the
inevitable pointlessness and stupidity of our own deaths? Alice has
left hubris and catharsis far behind. Good news! Carry on.
