Well, in theory, if the CDs sound significantly better than the old
CDs on a hi-fi then the ripped MP3s should sound correspondingly
better than MP3s ripped from the old CDs. On the other hand, although
I use my iPod a lot, it's not noted for its high audio quality. The
newer ones are even worse - Apple changed the sound chips a few years
back and the new ones sound, as someone put it, as if you are
listening through some sort of electronic gauze. Not good. I find I
get significantly better (and louder) sound from the same MP3, on the
same headphones, played through the bog-standard sound card in my
office PC, than I do through my iPod.
