Well, what about the dialogue? Or the lithe prose? Or the noir pastiche?
Or the Pynchon autobiographical aspect? Etc.
As for Vineland, I can see how some people felt a bit let down when it
came out, if they'd been waiting all those years for another GR. But to
still not appreciate Vineland now seems like critical myopia. Vineland
is like one of those underrated Dylan albums that sounds better and
better as years go by - Planet Waves, maybe.
Just no point arguing with you, [wo]man.
