It's no more or less complicated than watching another old artist
keeping that hope alive and doing what he can to make it real:
Leonard Cohen, at his age, singing Hallelujah!
Of course, anybody who has had a chance to lead a rock star's life of
money and fame, has many reasons to celebrate despite the pain that's
come with it along the way.
Likewise, Pynchon has been showered with love for his work. But with
him, as with Leonard Cohen, I get the feeling that he has felt and
lived deeply enough to earn the right to sing his songs. Feels
convincing that they have been to the dark places, were able to keep
hope alive and get out alive, here to tell the tale.
How we can keep hope alive and keep working, if the world doesn't
respond with love and acclaim and $$$? A tough job, but what's the
alternative?
