the end of Comics as we know it

I have friends who will only collect "golden age" comics which for my
generation is not the 40s-50s era titles but mid-late 60s to mid-late
70s
I know folks will disagree with this but I think Frank Miller and his
ilk destroyed alot of what I loved about comics--the art was terrible
and the stories became so serious--part of the joy I had for
particularly Spiderman and Batman was the element of youthful passion
and fantastic adventure with the goofy bad guys and not so
heavy-handed psychology
