IVIV Hope Harlingen: a wacky theory (possible spoilers)

hey, alice, I actually like your comments and agree with them to a
large extent. I appreciate the references to Tony Tanner and his
version of Moby Dick is high on my "to buy" list (though you also
mentioned some other person surnamed Tanner that I haven't heard
of...I know, I need to check that on my own)
Also while I was researching (and I use the term loosely, raptly
browsing might be better) on Phillip Randolph, I also found more links
to AJ Muste (who is one of my mega-super-heroes, right up there with
Mighty Mouse) and also, learned that there used to be something called
"Labor Temples"! Fascinatin' stuff...

My slant here ('cause we're not allowed to post "me too" - I forget
on whose imperative) is just another tile of a contrasting color to
add to the mosaic
- I watched Mighty Mouse when I was in its target demographic and the
only things about it that I remember are 2: standing at the top of the
slide on the school playground and yelling "Here I come to save the
day", and a little older being slightly offended when my uncle called
me Mighty Mouse.

I suspect there is certainly sidelong commentary on TV violence, but
also could we squint and see Doc as Mighty Mouse
and his impulse to save the day, as the source of that inexplicable
goodness of heart that survives the hard-boiling process...
