You are correct about this.  Today's acid is more like Ecstasy, not
really very hallucinogenic at all.  My experiences in the Early 70's
were intensely visually hallucinogenic, more than once to the point
where I became totally lost, even thinking I'd somehow landed on
another planet, which was pretty scary at the time.  Trying to exert
too much control over a trip can backfire, sending you in a bad
direction.  I'm glad I had the experiences, but today the only
tripping I'll go on is with shrooms, a nicer gentler trip.

I't clear in my mind that TRP took acid sometime prior (if not during)
to writing GR.  Some of t he visuals he describes are clearly from
acid trips.
