7/30 in favor of "jibes" with, but "jives" is gaining. Usage changes, sigh...
but I was looking at Plotnitsky today and he was saying there is something
called "general economy" where all meaning ineluctably loses value...
However, I think it's fair to say that the reverse of her statement, formed
as a question, would have to be answered affirmatively:
Does Pynchon jive with the rigid pacing and logical arc of the conventional
detective story - heck yeah!
