Sometimes, lifelong extended conceits---like 'being shopped' and 'spying'--
all come from a basic human value TRP cherishes that gets broken badly.

We can see how world-famous TRP has still kept in touch with his oldest friends and teachers, etc. 

When the bond of friendship, loyalty, is betrayed---is where 'being shopped' and being spied on---what does a person who betrays you do? He reports on your behavior beyond you, without telling you. Your privacy (re your own acts and words) has been violated.

You've been shopped.
