Well, OK.....

my calling her 'verbally snappy' was just to describe what was on the page, as we encountered her, not to evaluate it..........certainly not to
overpraise what seems as minor as a hiccup or something.

You and others don't think it works. You may be right. I can't see it as much of anything but a maybe-failed bit of transition and a joke about a fad food restaurant---I still cannot believe the pizza topping joke from earlier except as straining hyperbole---but I've been called too earnest before.
