Your proposed persona of College lit professor is undermined by  
several things, not least of which is your inability to correctly  
parse the word roots and spelling of the word which you write as  
"underminded". This form would not even pass a spell check, and shows  
a basic ineptness with language.

The use of the word protest is also awkward and unsophisticated.  A  
"Protest" novel . What is this, the sixties or seventies?
