There were two versions/endings of Jacob's Ladder -- one with some info about army drug experiments, one without.  Which are you referring to?

Personally, I'm so fuckin' sick of vampire and zombie flicks -- just being assaulted by the ads and trailers is too much of a mediocre thing.
