I devour loads of shit about the Eastern Front and for some reason I
found Europe Central very dull. I had just read Life and Fate a few
yrs before that and guess my mind kept going back to that book with
its mostly everyday family of people unlike Vollman's soldiers,
artists and VIPs. alot more to connect to in the Grossman novel (btw,
a new english translation of Forever Flowing is being published soon I
think) than reading Vollman's research which is what I think EC
amounted to
