just picked up _Hitch-22_, so far it's rather bitchen' (Gidget-speak
for good, right?)

the tone is similar to Burgess's indispensable _Little Wilson and Big
God_ and JB Priestley's wonerful autobio, or maybe I just think that
because they are all English with like super-enviable careers.  anyway
if I fall under its spell completely and start bombing Iraq, just
shoot me (-;

I guess it's not surprising really, so many old Trotskyites here in
the US too have become Iraq-bombers
