what would the freakshows be represented by, on a graph?
I guess maybe particular points, or maybe even little infinitesimals
hanging out in their largely imaginary Dasein...

but if history is this sinuous snake, the freakshow that obviously is
or ought to be on Fausto I's mind on 3 September 1939 is the Third
Reich

which even now we (and by we I mean just about everybody I hear
talking about it, except maybe holocaust deniers) have a tendency to
enthrone as the be-all and end-all of evil empires, but maybe Fausto
was right to see it as confined to a purely local freakshow on one
sinusoidal node
