(np) Barth - _The Development_

dunno whether its nine stories are parallel or parody of Salinger's,
but I've always enjoyed a good Barth and this is another one.
Knew it was out there, finally got around to reading it, not a lengthy
project.  glossing it or analyzing it fully is something that would
probably pay some nice rewards, but even a moderately cognizant
reading is rewarding too.

different modality from Pynchon of course, but his prose is excellent,
nourishing and full of elegant surprises
