am I just a contrarian?  No, but...

may I point out that everybody's talking about the 700 billion lost to
the tax coffers by keeping tax cuts for the wealthy, however I read
somewhere that the tax cuts for the non-wealthy are estimated to cost
3 trill over the same ensuing period of time

I volunteer to give up my poverty-stricken tax cut in the interests of
a solvent republic.
Will I miss the 3 bucks a week?

surprised nobody else is proposing that.  "ask not what your country"
and all that...
I mean, as liberals we should not (or at least, not *only*) be trying
to soak the rich, we should be glad to pay taxes as "the price we pay
for civilization"

as liberals wtf are we even excited about a tax cut for?  is the
resistance to rescinding the middle class tax cut a sign that we would
be just as intransigent and conscienceless and devoid of public spirit
as those who have gotten to the threshold of wealth...
