There are some exceptions--the teacher's union comes to mind though
under attack from mostly free market disciples and funders (Bill
Gates, a slew of hedge fund heads, etc.). see the story revolving
around Michelle Rhee former head of the DC school system, e.g.
and beyond the self-inflicted wounds attending the labor movement and
unions there was the cancerous influence of organized crime all those
years which via labor union pension funds essentially built Las Vegas
and god knows what else.
how could students connect to labor anyway since many union members in
the hard trades were mostly blue collar and conservative. but we've
discussed that here before
