there are people (me, sometimes) who think that a more vigorous
self-defense, and even a certain "offensive" strategy on the part of
Obama wouldn't be amiss

yet even Ishmael Reed, who has often been lionized for vigorous
rhetoric in his fiction and essays (I mean, that's his gig, n'est ca
pas?, to some extent anyway - eminence noir?), is drawing raps on the
knuckles in this environment for defending Obama's restraint in his
own inimitable style

Alan Grayson, liberal representative from my part of Florida, using
vigorous rhetoric and taking the offensive, drew criticism and lost
his re-election bid

the problem with going offensive, is that, well, you offend people...
