actually, the reason I'm interested in this thread is that Pynchon
declared Ishmael Reed to be a great source of info on the types of
conspiracies he was writing about in Gravity's Rainbow.
Then I went on to read some Reed and, well, liked what I read, to the
point where, without wishing to give offense, I find myself moved to
defend the article cited, Reed's views, and Obama...

I've played with the idea of a Pynchon-as-conservative reading.  It's doable.
I'm just not interested in doing it, personally.

Pynchon-as-Rorschach is also an interesting reading, perhaps.
