and of course, I myself can either withhold or extend sympathy to that
statement - but I think it's a pretty benign one to say about *any*
"Other" and I wouldn't mind it being said about me

and it certainly could be equally true in texts written by homosexual
men (or "men who commit homosexual acts" as Gore Vidal insists) - but
after a slightly different fashion, perhaps

for Lake to not sign on to Webb's polluted trade-unionism (I mean, the
guy's a mad bomber, for Pete's sake - not an unlikeable one, but
still!) isn't so much a gender thing as a generational thing (eg - all
those kids of hippies, whom I sort of envy because that's how I wished
my parents were, back when I wanted to be a practicing hippie, but
Generation X rejecting that ethos)
