At least Domenic makes pizza, i.e. he's really doing something, i.e.
not just talking about doing something if ever given the chance to do
it. He's not resting on past achievements.
That said, a vote for Deomenic is one less vote against the T-Potty
Rebs. If you really think that there's no difference between the Rebs
and the Dems, just wait until the Rebs solidify their power. A NOTA
vote is a vote for hoping it all works out alright; that we will have
a revolution after the coming right-wing junta's stranglehold weakens
enough for the jailed millions to do something about it. Good luck
with that.

Alternatively, if a candidate can't sweep NY state, my fringe lefty vote won't make a difference. Accordingly, I vote for protest candidates. A protest candidate is someone who will never become president, but whose views more closely reflect one's own than the mainstream candidates. Voting for a protest candidate is not an alternative to voting for the centrist candidate du jour. It's an alternative to not voting. It's pointless to single Nader out as a spoiler, because he's just a figurehead for the NOTA vote.

I held my nose and voted for Mondale/Ferraro, because there was finally a woman on the ballot. I held my nose and voted for Obama because he was black. I will not vote for him again, though I might consider it, if there's an absolutely 50-50 split coming into election day.

Last election, rather than add to the landslide for various Democratic centrist candidates, I chose to write in the name of my local pizza man (Domenic DiMarco, of DiFara's Pizza). I may write his name in again in 2012. He'll never be president, but he makes damn good pizza.
