fact of the matter, alice is that folks in the US couldnt care less.
much of the media coverage re: Afghanistan is focused on one word
"Taliban"--though we don't really know ho they are among the shifting
tribal influences, greed, underground or out in the open corrupt
networks, not to mention the outlier types like Al Qaeda and others
from some mixture of the Army of the Pure, ISI captains, not to
mention the Karzai/ warlord set of verbal alliances. Despite all that
coverage it is still secret which may be some weird mainfi9estation of
hubris and incompetence married to a distressing relaince on
overwleming force and the fcuek'em then save them manifestor emerging
from Petreaus and team.
Fundamentally, who are we fighting. we still don't really know

watch Restrepo the documentary about the fight in the Korengal Valley
and see kids barely in their 20s condescendingly interacting with men
5 times their age. I watched that re-run of Khe Sanh (at least the
French haven't recreated Dien Ben Phu) that is this movie and thought
we've badly lost this war. its too late.
we all know that secret
