the major book wholesalers, which, of course, fill demand from bookstores and which
themselves report to major bestseller lists will be reporting THE HARDCOVER of
THE CATCHER IN THE RYE as a high bestseller today, reflecting last week's sales/demand.

All three editions, hc, trade paper and mass market are on their bestseller lists, #1 in mass market on at least two of them.

factoid:
in 1951, "The Catcher in the Rye", the hardcover, was on the NYTimes bestseller list for twenty weeks, starting two weeks
after pub week. However, it never went higher than #4---beaten by a Wouk novel, among others, to #1---and fell off
after falling to #12.

Q: this was Salinger's best result---height and length---on the NYTimes bestseller list, yes or no?
