re The Secret Life of Emily Dickinson I mentioned yesterday. One theme is
that ole Calvinist one: The Saved, the Damned--visible on this earth.
And, speaking of the sex all around Emily in that new bio, this novel imagines Emily, a 17-year old scholgirl, full of near-sex, her and just about all at Holyoke...so hidden, so bursting out, such erotic conspiracies
all around. And, told by the author in a ventiloquism of the energetic prose of Emily's letters....people don't walk, they fly [on their feet]..every look is charged....every touch is electric.....every frown is eternal condemnation........(I exagerate but not by much)
Emily cannot help but be of the Devil's party, imagines the author.
