Don't know if the life of a spy or ballet dancer or writer gives us any real insight into the nature of work under capitalism.  Novelists never seem to give their characters dreary-sounding jobs like Senior Technical Communicator or Clinical Nurse Educator or Certified Professional Coder (gleaned from today's Monster.com listings). 

I've tried to advise my kids to aim for job titles that can be easily understood in one or, at most, two words:  spy, ballet dancer, writer, tree surgeon, mortician, janitor, dolphin trainer, electrician ...
